# Update on OpenRefine not recognising Java installation

Hello,

A couple weeks ago [I mentioned](https://forum.openrefine.org/t/problem-with-wikimedia-commons-schema-not-showing-media-options/310/4) that I was having trouble with the 3.7-beta2 (2022-12-12).

I was using the latest Java version (18.0.2.1.), but clicking “openrefine.exe” on both the version with and without Java took me to the documentation page. The program thought that I did not have Java installed.  
The older 3.7-beta1 version worked fine, however.

Today I tested the **3.7-beta5** and the problem persists in both the version **with and without** JRE.  
The **3.8** Snapshot (26-01-2023) **without** JRE has the same problem.

However, the **3.8** Snapshot **with** JRE starts up fine. 😀
