I have been successfully changed and have been using a dropbox directory as my new OpenRefine directory to allow me to work from work and home on the same projects. I acquired a new MacBook and tried to do the same with OpenRefine on the new one. I followed exactly the same steps but for some reason, NONE of my projects are visible under "Open Projects", even though the directory points to the right place. I've tried re installing OpenRefine a few times and editing the directory file over and over. And no luck. Wondering if anyone else has any experience?
@Natalie_Iwanycki_Ahl Let's troubleshoot!
Try to alternatively start OpenRefine via the Terminal (not the Application) - follow our docs section Running - Mac.
- But first - you'll need to set the
-Drefine.data_dir
inside theinfo.plist
file as explained in our Running docs. This will give you a console log output in the terminal - After starting via Terminal, within the first 6-10 lines of Terminal output, you should see the
refine.data_dir
being pointed to, or something about the workspace folder, I forgot exactly how we log this out to the Terminal... and hopefully it's pointing to the correct one for your Dropbox folder?
Genius @thadguidry - that seemed to work!
The long list of projects now appears under the "Open Project" page.
Thank you very much. This has made my day.
