Hi all,
Here is an overview of my work on the reproducibility project over the last month. Development happened on quite some independent fronts so I imagine it has been hard to keep an overview.
I have continued the work on adding icons to all operations in the tool. You're welcome to suggest improvements to the icons themselves, for instance in #7166 or #7146. I've also worked on using them in more places (the undo/redo tab with #7135, soon the history erasure confirmation dialog) and improving the way they are rendered in menus (#7166).
In parallel to that, I have continued work on improving the generalizability of operations. The goal is to adapt the operation metadata so that it is more faithful to the intent of the user when re-run on a different dataset, but also giving them more insightful descriptions and icons in the same process. This prompted refining the operations to move columns, so that they better match the menu items that triggers them (#7174). I intend to continue this in March, focusing on the operation to delete and reorder columns in one go, as it is frequently used and causes reproducibility issues (#5576).
I have also continued to work on the recipe visualization feature, adapting it following the feedback in user testing. This work isn't visible as PR yet because it requires existing PRs first (#7169, #7158).
Beyond the reproducibility project, my work also went into releasing 3.9 and addressing issues that came up in this process.
As suggested by @Martin, I'll host a call to answer any questions about the reproducibility project and introduce our new hire (still to be announced) to it. It will be:
