Errors when Attempting to use Properties to Assist in Reconciling with Getty Vocabularies

Hi! I'm sorry if this has been answered, but I've scoured the web and haven't found anything helpful, so I figured I would ask here. I am attempting to match a list of places to TGN values and I have a list of the Administrative Entities that I fall under to try and use for the Parent Hierarchy property, but when I try using any type of property (I tried using Place Types too), it returns an error message for each cell. If I don't use properties, I get results, although most of them are totally off what I would expect to receive. Does anyone know the issue happening here?? The error messages vary- some cells say "HTTP error 500 : INTERNAL SERVER ERROR for URL /vocab/reconcile/", others say "No. of recon objects was less than no. of jobs", others say "The reconciliation service returned an invalid response". Any insight into this would be very helpful, as I am new to Open Refine. Thanks!!

Hi @ella and welcome to OpenRefine!

Can you give me 1 or 2 values from your TGN cells? And then I can perhaps help troubleshoot.

But from my eyes, their Getty Reconcile service seems to be responding well?
Are you following their tutorial here?
Getty Vocabularies OpenRefine Reconciliation

Hi! Yes, I have been looking at their tutorial, but I still am having an issue. I am happy to provide you a few of my cells. I have one column entitled Name and another entitled Parent. In the name column, I have the value "Austin", with the corresponding parent "Travis County". Another value in the name column is Oklahoma, which has the parent value of "United States of America". When I attempt to reconcile using the Name column and use the Parent column for the property \tgn_hier, I recieve varying error messages, including "The reconciliation service returned an invalid response" for Austin and "HTTP error 500 : INTERNAL SERVER ERROR for URL /vocab/reconcile/" for Oklahoma. If I attempt to reconcile over the Names column without using any associated properties, I recieve no errors, although I also do not get the proper candidates, but when using a property, it does not return any candidates, only errors. I have also attempted using the Place Type property, as I mentioned above, and had the same issue. Additionally, the same thing has happened using OpenRefine's Reconciliation Service Test Bench. Thanks again so much for your help!

That 500 status is being returned from the reconciliation service itself, which indicates a bug in the service. I'd suggest contacting the vocab folks at Getty to report the problem.
