Over the weekend my MacOS updated to Tahoe 26.6.2. Upon rebooting OpenRefine this morning, my MacBook initiated a warning that support for Intel-based applications running on Rosetta will be ending with macOS 28. Will this planned change on Apple's part affect OpenRefine in the future? If yes, this would be super helpful to know in advance!
Most of the code is in Java. You can always run OR only in Java.
What your screen capture show is only a wrapper to give a nice icon and 1 or 2 menus in the menubar to OR.
Pretty sure this will be fixed in the next 2 years…

Antoine

True, but the Mac version of the OpenRefine kit currently bundles an Intel architecture version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), so it's more than just the launcher.
There's a good chance we'll be able to release a version with aarch64 (ie Apple silicon) for 3.10.2, but if it turns out to be to big a change to include in the patch release, we'll do a feature release that includes long before there's an issue with Intel support ending. This should also give a performance boost for people running on machines with Apple silicon.
Tom
We've released the first snapshot build that supports Apple silicon and all future builds will include both x86_64 and aarch64 versions.

I'm not sure whether we'll be able to squeeze this into 3.10.2, but whatever the release vehicle is, it'll be out long before Apple's deadline.
@tfmorris: is it still going to contain the code for x86 processors?
I have a MacMini x86.

Yes, the x86_64 kit will continue to work on the older Macs, the same way it does today. Feel free to test the snapshot build and let us know how it goes.
