Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I am trying to clean a dataset from Adlib in preparing to migrate to Kleksi. In the column object number, I added Textfilter to search for a specific object. I was doing this for a few objects and it worked perfectly fine, then suddenly OpenRefine keeps loading, freezes and then crashes.
I tried other columns as well, using any keyword, and there isn't a problem. It did crash in another columnn when I added a number instead of a word, but it also crashes when I just use the letters from the object code. Looks like it happens randomly for some columns.
Does anyone know what this could be?
thanks in advance
Best regards, Amy
Hi Amy. Sorry to hear that you're having troubles. It's difficult to tell from your description what's happening. Does the OpenRefine server crash? If so, is there an error message or stack trace? Or is it the browser tab/window which is freezing and crashing? If it's the latter, check to see whether you're running in records mode or row mode.
If records mode, try switching to row mode and see if that has any impact on the issue. In record mode, the browser will be trying to render all rows in any matching record, which, depending on the shape of the data, can be a lot.
By convention, OpenRefine interprets rows with leading blank cells as belonging to the "record" of the row above with a value in the leftmost column. This can be a little bit unintuitive if you're just starting out with OpenRefine.
If that doesn't help, let us know if there are any error messages. Also, if the data isn't proprietary, sharing your project may give additional insights.
Best regards,
Tom
