In January, a team from ulaval.ca will begin to work on a food extension for OpenRefine. I will let you know when there’s more to say about it. If you are interested by food data applications, you can PM me or tell it here. Happy Holidays to all of you !
I’d like to mentor an OpenRefine GSoC project like this,
Louis, thanks for the update and organizing a internship program around this project. Is it something you plan running via Open Food Fact or are you interested in collaboring with OpenRefine? Let us know how we can support you.
Happy new year Martin ! ![]()
I guess that it could be done via OpenRefine and/or Open Food Facts.
Do you plan to apply on GSoC 2026 ?
It could become our first collaboration.
We’ve applied today for GSoC with OpenRefine project proposals (extension, reconciliation). I will let you know on Feb 20 if we’re selected.
Open Food Facts has been selected for GSoC 2026 with an OpenRefine project. We’ll refine this project in the next week and I will confirm the mentors. We may need support from the OR community, if some of you are interested by food applications.
@Louis thank you for the update. Is the project proposal available publicly? Please keep us inform via the forum. I will be happy to help where I can.
We still have to agree on the OR project. Most probably a reconciliation service or Jython stuff that could be used in expressions. We will decide it next week. Thank you @Martin !
I'm excited to see what you're working on! I've worked with the Jython extension a little bit so feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
