FYI, I'm going to start working on a new extension for Expression editor support for the R programming language over the next few weeks. I'll pull in some of my R community friends to help me out as well. Hopefully, we can also get the OpenRefine datagrid to refresh well while being interactive. It won't be R Studio, but we'll try to match the interactive experience as much as possible. Wish us luck!
@thadguidry, I know you have been working to champion OpenRefine's support for the R language for quite some time. I found the callforproposals – R Consortium, and I was wondering if we could pitch this idea for funding. Let me know what you think.
Sure, why not. Renjin and other R interfaces on GitHub also have some communities. But most R users want to use their existing R tools to interact with an open dataset/project in OpenRefine, saving us from embedding R editing, CRAN package handling, etc. directly into OpenRefine itself.
Not really. I just had eye surgery in my left eye this time. Yeah, it sucks and I have to basically just talk to type this into my phone. We are istateside for the next four months in Dallas. But the surgery went well and I am recovering and healing very well say the doctors. This all just happened just before our flight back to China from during our vacation here in March and April. I'm hoping I'll be able to see noticeably better than now for the bar camp.
