Governance

What’s advanced since we last talked on August 22, 2024?

  • Community review of the governance proposal
  • So far, people are commenting on the forum
  • No particularly blocked, just a question of how do we do the next step from here?

Process to get government in place. Danielle recommended the following steps

  • Focus on education regarding what's involved on the governance
    • Networking effect for the creation of the contributor's group inviting each other
    • How the voting system works
    • How we plan to roll it out
  • Draft a list of who to invite as part of the initial contributor group
  • schedule Ask Me Anything calls
  • Prepare a post describing the intent behind the governance document.

Voting process, the draft governance does not specify a voting mechanism. The group discussed the following options:

  • Do the first election in public with non-anonymous voting
  • Need to pick a platform or tool
  • We are interested in the motivation behind a "no" vote. Non-anonymous is good for engaging the conversation. At the same time, we really want to encourage people to discuss
  • Make sure the community has enough time for review and comment. Update the document to reflect those discussions, if some people disagree
  • The group is interested in the voting proposed by Antonin here Improving the onboarding process for new contributors - #5 by antonin_d allow for both
    • Lazy consensus if no votes are cast
    • The -3 in the vote is a good way to trigger a conversation and ensure we have community consensus regarding the decision.
