Funding opportunity: OTF FOSS Sustainability Fund

Hi all,

I’m preparing an application to the Open Technology Fund’s Free and Open Source Software Sustainability Fund (deadline: May 7).

The proposal would focus on strengthening OpenRefine’s core infrastructure, with an emphasis on reconciliation workflows. This includes reducing dependency on external services and improving support for local, privacy-preserving data processing. The proposal would build on the Native In-App Reconciliation of Arbitrary Local Data Sets project we previously prepared for NLnet.

I will follow up as I make progress with the grant writing.

Hello all,

Following up on my previous message, I’ve prepared a draft concept note for the OTF FOSS Sustainability Fund.

The proposal focuses on strengthening OpenRefine’s reconciliation infrastructure, in particular reducing dependency on external services and improving support for local, privacy-preserving workflows.

I’m aiming to submit on May 6 (deadline May 7), so if you have any high-level feedback or relevant use cases to share, feel free to comment.

Thanks,

I corrected the document permissions.

We received the answer from the OTF and OpenRefine "is unfortunately outside of OTF's thematic focus areas. OTF supports privacy and censorship circumvention projects that benefit people - directly, or as critical parts of other technologies - who are victims of repressive government censorship."
