I wanted to share that we are preparing an application to the Sovereign Tech Fellowship due on April 6, 2026.
The proposal would focus on supporting the community management and coordination work around OpenRefine, including:
- facilitating regular, structured community and maintainer calls to support knowledge sharing and ongoing engagement
- maintaining governance processes (decision-making, documentation, advisory coordination)
- continuing to strengthen contributor pathways, including documentation, onboarding, and connections with institutional partners
The intent is to frame this work as part of the broader infrastructure needed to sustain OpenRefine as a tool used in research and data ecosystems (including some of the work happening in Germany with partners already identified during the 2025 NLnet NGI Zero Commons Fund application).
This is still work in progress, but I wanted to flag it early and open the door for feedback. If you have thoughts on how this kind of work supports the project, or examples of how you rely on it, that would be very helpful.
