Hi everyone! I am Rita, a Frontend Developer and an Outreachy applicant.
I am interested in contributing to the āimproving OpenRefineās reconciliation UIā project of OpenRefine and hopefully get selected as an intern.
I have read the guideline for developers from @antonin_d , Iāve also been able to install Openrefine and have it running locally. Now, I am going through the issues on Github to find a good first issue.
I would appreciate any help from the mentors in getting a good first issue.

Hi @i-am-rita, welcome to the project!
I would appreciate any help from the mentors in getting a good first issue.
Which sort of help do you need for that?
As I mentioned in the instructions for developer applicants, we cannot pick the issue for you, as we do not know which areas of OpenRefine you are familiar with and what your interests are.
The best I can do is randomly select an issue that has the tag āgood first issueā and is not assigned to anyone yet. But I think you could do that on your own - and it would not be a great strategy in the first place, since you would likely end up working on a problem that you cannot relate to very well.
Thatās true @antonin_d .
I would go ahead and keep searching for a good first issue that i can work on.
I would like to know if I can also suggest UI changes in some areas of OpenRefine UI.
You can! Feel free to open issues about those.
Done,
I look forward to your review and thoughts on the issues raised.
Greetings! I am a fourth-year phd student from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Iāve been studying on OpenRefine for years, mainly about reproducibility, transparency and reusability. Please feel free to find the papers scholar. It is so nice to see that we now have this group and a good place to help share, document and categorize questions.
Hi here!
Iām an OpenRefine user since 2017. Not long after using the tool to push data to Wikidata, I felt compelled to come and contribute to OpenRefine in order to make it a better tool, as there were at that time a lot of bugs that prevented to really appreciate OR.
Like @jfaurel and @timtom, Iām from QuĆ©bec, near MontrĆ©al.
I learned to contribute to GitHub on open source software with OR, and I still have a lot to learn!
Unfortunately, I do not use OpenRefine in my work much, so I donāt have a lot of time to contribute to it in the last year.
Regards,
Antoine Beaubien
