Discussion

The survey is now closed. We received 226 answers on the form and 187 on the roadmap prioritization.

  • Martin already shared the raw data with Bocoup to finalize the Mission vision value project
  • Martin will work first on the all-our-ideas as it is the fastest to process and share it on the forum
  • In-depth analysis of the survey will take a few weeks.

Governance, we discussed @thadguidry comment to last week minutes: October 3rd, 2024, Advisory Committee and CS&S - #2 by thadguidry

  • Antonin we want to keep the governance simple
  • Martin is OK with simple governance and details in the policies to make things explicit. However he struggles to keep things simple with the different elements introduce
    • How do we keep organizing elections in a simple format
    • What is the core team - who are they?
  • Jan: This is built on a lot of unspoken assumptions
  • Esther to answer Thad on the forum.

Hiring related to Seeking Input on New Developer Role for OpenRefine

  • The governance discussion should not be a blocker as the person will not have merge right at the beginning.
  • We have support from the community.
  • Martin to write the role description for feedback. This will be done in a PR in the openrefine.org repo.

BarCamp 2025, the budget from EOSS-5 leaves room to organize an event next year.

  • US Library conferences are often organized over the summer because campuses are available
  • Martin to start the conversation on the forum to discuss time/place and format
    • Open Repository conference is in Chicago in June 2025 if we want something in North America
    • Martin started a Conference List we can tag along.

Handbook update and roadmap action items are at the bottom of Martin’s to-do and kept being pushed away by other projects.
