PAWS: "Invalid file paths" on upload to Commons

Hi, I have been using OpenRefine locally so far. Now I am trying with the PAWS platform. I am finding some unexpected issues, like this one I had not in the local version:

On the final upload window, I get the message of the capture attached: "Some paths of files to be uploaded are invalid, such as...". The same path and files (stored in my computer) do not prompt any such warning when using my local OR application. I went through the path and could not find any digits wrong. This is not the first time, so it is recurrent. May I add, for more clarity: the next word in the file path after "D" is the default folder for "Images" in Windows (Basque "Irudiak"), and the rest, subfolders created by me.

Why could this be happening?

Hi @InakiLL! Sorry you're having an issue. Since this wasn't happening with your local instance, it sounds like this might be an issue with PAWS. After looking around a bit, this link mentions someone to contact for OpenRefine on PAWS: Wikidata:Tools/OpenRefine - Wikidata
Is it possible to reach out to them and get their input?

When using PAWS, the file paths that you need to use are to be understood on PAWS itself.
PAWS cannot access local files on your own computer.
So, the first step is to upload all your media files to PAWS, figure out the path they have there, and then use that in your project.

So far it seems that it's only mentioned briefly at Commons:OpenRefine - Wikimedia Commons, but it would perhaps be nice to have a dedicated entry in the FAQ to explain exactly how that looks like.

O! That explains the issue, that is a pity. Does it make sense to go the two steps to upload files, from local to PAWS to Commons? Is PAWS available on reconciliation? Thank you

Good question, it depends on your preferences. If you are able to run OpenRefine locally, I would say that's probably easier for this particular use case, but others might disagree.

Is PAWS available on reconciliation?

I don't understand the question.

I mean, if I chose to use PAWS to upload the files, where or how could I upload files there (instead of Commons)? Is there a PAWS service in the "Reconciliation service test bench" to choose from?

I guess that practically I can upload to PAWS just from URLs Explained also here by Sandra (1:11:35).

No, you need to manually upload the files to the PAWS storage space using other methods (not OpenRefine).
